Cruise

Most cruise coverage reads like the brochure that paid for it. Ours does not. We sail the itinerary, go ashore at every port and write up what was worth the time and what was not, the ship included. We cruise with the lines where the cabin and the food earn the fare, and leave the rest alone. What follows are sailings we took ourselves, and what we have learned about booking them well.

Cruise: Best of Italy & Croatia

Civitavecchia to Ravenna on Celebrity, reviewed port by port with the brochure language taken out. What each stop is worth, and what to skip.

Cruise with Celebrity Cruises

A Mediterranean run on Celebrity Constellation, down Italy's coast, across to Croatia's cities and on to the edge of Greece. As much a verdict on the ship as on the ports.

Pre cruise in Miami

Three days in Miami before a Caribbean sailing. Art Deco on Ocean Drive, Peking duck away from the strip, a hotel pool two metres from the bed. A stopover piece, not the cruise itself.
